Joy Charpentier

Joy Charpentier

Born in 1991. Lives and works between Montpellier and Nîmes.

Joy Charpentier is a graduate of the Beaux-Arts in Bourges. He develops a practice situated at the intersection of his gipsy heritage and his queer identity.
Through drawing, performance, and installation, he deconstructs the mechanisms of violence and their circulation, resorting to distortion and forms that are deliberately excessive, kitsch, or absurd.
His work, presented in France and across Europe, questions dominant fields of representation and claims a position on the margins as a critical and political space.

Proposed by Mécènes du Sud Montpellier-Sète-Béziers.
