Jeu Multiform
Gabriel Fontana is hosting a game for all ages called Multiform, a new team sport, on Saturday, May 30, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, in the garden of the Jolimont Observatory.
Multiform is an alternative team sport designed by artist Gabriel Fontana to promote empathy and inclusion. Using sport as a metaphor, this game offers a new way of understanding societal dynamics. In this game involving three teams, players wear transformable sports uniforms that evolve over the course of the game, encouraging them to switch teams multiple times. By allowing these constant shifts, the game challenges the idea of fixed, binary belonging. Team identity is no longer conceived as a closed boundary pitting two camps against each other, but as a fluid, relational ecosystem based on interdependence.
Multiform has been implemented in schools across Europe, presented at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and recently acquired by MoMA, making it the first queer sport to be included in a museum collection.
