DESIGN MURAL
Graphic design students at the School of Fine Arts are creating posters conceived as a mural-style series, rooted in the neighborhood and driven by the energy of street art.
The isdaT and Le Nouveau Printemps collaborate regularly. This year, in response to Rossy de Palma’s proposal to partner with Toulouse’s creative communities, a commission was awarded to students in the graphic design program.
What would posters look like to convey Rossy de Palma’s vision for Le Nouveau Printemps in the Matabiau Station neighborhood?
The execution of this commission draws inspiration from both Rossy de Palma’s career trajectory and the uninhibited energy of free poster art. From the perspective of graphic design, the posters produced with the students primarily serve as a mural program for the festival (exhibitions, events, etc.), with the neighborhood’s social, urban, and historical context as a backdrop. A way to open up an additional layer of meaning within a graphic design commission itself.
The posters are displayed throughout the festival district, on walls connecting different points along the route: a free and direct urban practice offering strong and poetic visibility in public space.
This commission is being carried out as part of a workshop. In collaboration with isdaT and graphic design instructors Margot Criseo and Olivier Huz.
