Cours de danse avec La Chachi

Event

La Chachi will lead a dance class in Michelet Garden on May 29 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., following the performance of Taranto Aleatorio

With this performance, in the space of a few moments, the spirited flamenco dancer and the magnificent singer shake up the daily routine in a funny and exhilarating performance.

Two women eat sunflower seeds, sitting side by side, outdoors. They share a simple, everyday space, a casual conversation, the intimacy of silence. Suddenly, dance and song surge forth, shattering the monotony of this ordinary world.

The Taranto is a sober, almost primitive branch of flamenco : a dry, a cappella song, without embellishment, just a necessity. Playing with the traditional structure of the tablao, La Chachi (dancing) and her partner Lola Dolores (singing) bring dance and song together, transforming them, distorting them, assembling them.

From silence emerges a new conversation between voice and body, giving way to chance, improvisation, and sensitivity. The two flamencas then deliver an explosive and at times irreverent performance—funny and feverish.
