Rebecca Topakian
Born in 1989. Lives and works between Maisons-Alfort and Yerevan (Armenia).
Moving back and forth between documentary and a poetic approach to her subjects, reality and fiction, the personal and the political, Rebecca Topakian explores personal and collective mythologies. Following the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, she settled partially in Armenia and divides her time between Yerevan and the Paris region. Her work has been recognized with various awards and grants: the Fénéon Prize (2021), the ADIAF Emerging Artist Prize (2023), the Regards du Grand Paris national commission (2021), and the major photographic commission from the BNF (2022). Her work has been exhibited at the Rencontres d’Arles, the BNF, the Magasins Généraux, the Cité Internationale des Arts, the MAC VAL, and the Casino Luxembourg. In 2026, she will be an artist-in-residence at Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto.
