Manuel Outumuro
Born in 1949. Lives and works in Barcelona.
Manuel Outumuro is a Spanish photographer based in Barcelona. After completing his academic training in graphic design, he moved to New York, where he opened a studio specializing in graphic imagery and art direction for fashion designers. He collaborated with some of the most prestigious photographers, whom he commissioned to conduct photo shoots for his studio.
In the early 1990s, one of the photographers failed to show up for a scheduled shoot, and Outumuro decided, on the spur of the moment, to take the photos himself. This incident proved to be a turning point, and within a year, he had switched from typography to photography. This is how he became one of the most prestigious Spanish photographers of the moment. He has collaborated with the most important fashion publications, and his extensive archives have documented, with depth and rigor, the trends in the history of fashion over the past century. Furthermore, his portrait gallery constitutes an exceptional archive of figures from the world of art and culture over the last 30 years.
