
Juan Francisco González
Born in 1989 in Punta Arenas, Chile.
Juan Francisco González studied filmmaking at EICTV (San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba) and later at the Ateliers Varan in Paris. In 2020, he directed the medium-length film Maria K, which was screened at the 'Cinéma du réel' festival, where it won the 'Prix du public Première Fenêtre', as well as a special mention from the jury at FIDOCS. His work has also been selected for numerous international festivals, including Doclisboa, FIDMarseille, and FIDBA.
In 2022, his short film Fantasmagoría was screened at Doclisboa and at over 60 festivals worldwide, where it received several awards. He is currently an artist-in-residence at the Casa de Velázquez for the 2024–2025 period.
