Ahmed Umar

Born in 1988. Lives and works in Oslo (Norway).

Ahmed Umar is a multidisciplinary artist. He earned his Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts in 2016. Through his work, Ahmed Umar has also become a leading figure for queer people from Muslim backgrounds in Norway and Sudan.

His artistic practice highlights issues related to identity, religion, and cultural values through various modes of artistic expression. He uses his personal experiences as tools to convey narratives not only of oppression and alienation, but also of liberation and the reclamation of his own history. His work is exhibited worldwide, notably at the Venice Biennale in 2024.
